Thanksgiving Peace to You!

Thanksgiving Peace to You!

Whether you are actively involved at Peace or are a friend of Peace, near or far away, we are grateful for the connection we have with you. We hope you have a Thanksgiving, full of gratitude. If you’re facing family tension or experiencing too much solitude this week, we pray God’s grace will abound in your life.

Did you hear about the unveiling of the Charter for Compassion on November 12? Take a look at what these peacemakers are doing: www.charterforcompassion.org

The Peace Youth will be selling Christmas wreaths on Sunday morning December 6 after worship at SCF. Donations will help fund youth retreats and missions.

The Peace Mission Team invites you to make Christmas merry for a struggling Mission Beth-El family through your participation with angel tree gifts. We also have the opportunity to provide hospitality to international college students. Email back if you have interest or questions (or show up Sunday) and I will connect you with the right people.

The anticipatory season of Advent begins this Sunday. Great time to re-connect with the church. New choir members welcome to join just for Christmas singing this Wednesday, the 2nd.

I challenge you to create a gratitude list on Thursday or Friday. Fill the page.

Peace,

Pastor Elizabeth

This Week at Peace - November 13, 2009

We had a wonderful Wednesday at Peace in the Park with forty elementary school kids. Thanks to all who made this day meaningful!

Thanks also for meeting the 1000 pound food goal for our Halloween offering and to those who are providing hospitality for homeless families in Family Promise this week. We are also grateful to our devoted volunteers at Mission Beth-El.

We have yet another great opportunity to build peaceful relationships with people from around the world. Let’s help with Cedarkirk’s Christmas International House. The Regulski Shireys who have been coming to Peace (from Northminster) are hosting two Chinese college students from Michigan. You could assist them by offering a meal or activity for these students. Or you could offer to take your own international college students from December 23-27.

Interested in shaping the vision for Peace’s property development? There’s a meeting at the Deiberts’ on Thursday at 7:30 to begin thinking. (No, we’re not building yet…just thinking!)

Faith and Film Movie Night is next Friday at Sue and Chuck McClurg’s house. Come at 7ish for food and fellowship. "The Soloist," which I’ve heard is a wonderful film, begins at 7:30.

The Peace Choir is singing "O Happy Day" at the presbytery meeting at Venice Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 1:50! Come for the morning worship at 9:30 and/or hear Rick Ufford-Chase at 10:25, former moderator of the PC(USA) General Assembly, an outstanding elder and peacemaker.

Hope you’re still hanging tightly to your gratitude rock and thinking about what you can give back joyfully on Dedication Sunday — November 22. Read the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel, chapters 1 and 2 to prepare for Sunday’s worship.

Peace to you,
Elizabeth

Peace to you

Peace & Friends at Peace Presbyterian
Peace Family and Friends,

My heart is full of gratitude as I return SW Florida, having been so far away in Greece for nine days after our chartering celebration. I am grateful for the privilege of seeing places where the Apostle Paul preached, monasteries built into rocks, and the Parthenon, standing there gloriously for 2500 years. (See images attached) I am also grateful to live as comfortably as we do here, surrounded by so much beauty and so many conveniences. It is good to be home.

I understand our Halloween Offering was a success, but that the Mission Team is urging us on. Here’s a message from Eirinn: Tom Knierim has turned up the heat on us! He said we are way too close to our goal of 1,000 lbs to give up now. Why don’t we extend the food collection goal for one more week. We need 109 pounds – and WE CAN DO IT!

Peace in the Park, our peace-building ministry for elementary school children, is this coming Wednesday from 9:00-3:00. All who are willing to help, please come to the Deiberts on Monday night at 7:30 for final preparations. If you cannot make the meeting but are interested in providing support on the day, speak to Richard or Tricia or email me back.

November is the season of stewardship for Peace. Stewardship is the faithful and responsible management of the gifts God has entrusted to your care. This season’s theme is "Gratitude" When we are grateful for all we have, then we are naturally motivated to be generous. God has richly blessed us, so let us be a blessing to others.

Be grateful. Watch the original gratitude dance on youtube started by the "gratiDudes" and dare to discover joy. Smiling will be unavoidable. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9z2ELaBVJY

Hope to see you Sunday morning at 9:30 at State College of Florida, 7131 Professional Parkway, as we begin a whole month of thanksgiving.

Peace and gratitude to you,

Elizabeth
