Big News! -- January 27, 2013

Dear Peacemakers,

Now is the time for us to take a big step toward an exciting future.   God seems to be providing a great opportunity, just when we really needed it.  It is not our dream church building, but it will function very well for our worship, ministry, and mission, until we can make aesthetic improvements.   Please come view the Faith Church property on Lorraine Road between Hwy 70 and Hwy 64 on Saturday between 3:00 and 4:00.

On Sunday after worship, we will have our annual congregational meeting (no Lively Learning classes).   While enjoying delicious homemade soups, we will hear reports from Ministry Teams and see the current year budget.

We will welcome new members this Sunday, as well as ordain and install four elders to the class of 2015 and one youth elder for a single year term.   The scripture is 1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Paul’s suggestion that the church’s various members function together like parts of the body.   Come be hands, feet, arms, legs, hearts, minds, eyes, ears, and smiles with us on Sunday.  Come get your new photo and address directories, as well as a beautiful promo page for the Faith Church project and a list of accomplishments and goals of Peace teams.

And lest we focus entirely on our own needs, Peace will join many others in our presbytery and elsewhere in gleaning oranges in an unharvested grove in Nokomis on Saturday, Feb 2.  The oranges will feed the hungry in our area through local food banks.   All ages may participate (no ladders or tree climbing necessary). Learn more Sunday!

Thank you for your undying devotion to being Christ’s body here at Peace together.   It takes every one working together...

With much gratitude and many prayers,

Elizabeth

This Week at Peace -- January 20, 2013

Dear Peacemakers,

Richard and I are grateful for all your condolences – for cards, meals, emails, and calls.   Christ has been present to our family through your compassionate care.   This Sunday we are reading one of MLK’s favorite scriptures, the story of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10, a parable challenging us to cultivate our compassion for all in need.

As previously announced we will have our annual congregational meeting NEXT Sunday, the 27th after worship.    Please sign up to bring soup or help in another way with the lunch.

May God be with us, strengthening us in faith, hope, and love, come what may,

Elizabeth

This Week at Peace - - January 13, 2013

It is Baptism of the Lord Sunday, and Tricia is preaching from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 3.  I hope you can be there to support her and to welcome one another with the dear love of Jesus Christ.

21 When everyone was being baptized, Jesus also was baptized. While he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit came down on him in bodily form like a dove. And there was a voice from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I dearly love; in you I find happiness.”

We Deiberts will be in Asheville for the memorial service of Richard's father on Saturday.  Thank you for the tremendous support you offered us last Sunday morning as the news of Irv's death was fresh.

It is a good time to visit the Men's or Women's Prayer Group or one of our Ministry Teams.  Our Annual Congregational Meeting/Lunch will be on January 27.   You may sign up Sunday to bring soup or to help in some other way.

Grace, peace and love in the new year,

Elizabeth
