Thanksgiving Peace!

Dear Friends of Peace,

We hope you can join us for FUN-DAY SUNDAY activities on December 5th from 11:00-1:00 with free childcare provided by qualified adults from 1:00-4:00. Weekly worship with Peace is at 9:30 at 10902 Technology Terrace at the corner of Lakewood Ranch Blvd, near Central Park. (This is our new location!)

You are invited to share a Thanksgiving meal with various people from the Peace family at Troyers Dutch Heritage in Sarasota on Thursday. Email asap dspeacemaker@gmail.com if you are interested in joining this relaxed meal of twelve or so.

This November at Peace we have been building our gratitude attitude. We’re breathing in gratitude and breathing out generosity. As Thanksgiving approaches, know that we are grateful for your connection to Peace. May each of us learn a deeper trust in the providence of God, so we will be truly content and thankful for all we have been given.

Mark your calendar for a Peace-filled Christmas Eve: Lessons, Carols, Communion, Candlelight, and a Live Nativity 6:00- 7:00. What could be better?

Hope to see you December 5th for the family-friendly festival! See the attached flyer for FUN-DAY details or go to www.PEACEpcusa.com All welcome!

Thanksgiving peace to you!

This Week at Peace - - November 17, 2010

Dear Peacemakers,

Our Gratitude Season culminates this week as we bring our non-binding financial pledges for 2011 to God in worship this Sunday. If you have not received your pledge envelope, know that extras are available at church Sunday morning or you can call us at 753-7778. At the time of offering, we will bring our promise cards forward to signify our commitment to Christ and our enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Peace Church.

If you are not in town, please mail your promise card to 10902 Technology Terrace, Lakewood Ranch, 34211 or bring it the following week. Even if you are not ready to make a pledge right now, we invite you to be part of Gratitude Sunday and simply bring your Sunday offering to the plate joyfully.

Sunday’s scripture commends the “cheerful giver“ To increase your good humor, joy, and cheer in preparation for Gratitude Sunday, you can view The Gratitude Dance at

This is an exciting time to be part of Peace, as we grow into our vision “to be an intergenerational , diverse community of fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who reach out with the good news of Christ’s love, who grow strong in the service of God and neighbor, who send one another out with the joy of the Holy Spirit.”

NOTE: Movie Night on Friday will be held at Chuck and Sue McClurg’s house at 7:00, not at the church as originally planned.

FUN-DAY SUNDAY activities on December 5 from 11-1 are coming together with your help! We have invited the community through postcards, ads, and school flyers, and we hope you will sign up to welcome and assist, if you have not already. Call the church office if you don’t catch someone on the Fellowship Team this Sunday. We’re also providing childcare from 1-4, so you might offer to help with that too.

With a heart full of gratitude for each of you, especially our new friends at Peace,

Elizabeth

This Week at Peace - - November 12, 2010

Dear Peacemakers,

I am pleased to announce that the Nominating Committee now has a full and promising slate of elder nominees for your consideration: Shirley Blair, Nancy Hughes, Drew Jordan, and Jim Padula. These four dedicated members have been involved in a variety of capacities at Peace. They have prayerfuly considered the call and are prepared to stand for nomination. Should you elect them at our congregational meeting at the end of worship this Sunday, they will have several weeks of training before being ordained and installed in January for a three-year term. Read more about these elder nominees in your bulletin on Sunday.

Gratitude Sunday is next Sunday the 21st. We have been so richly blessed. Now is the time to prayerfully commit our non-binding financial pledges to God for all the 2011 ministries of Peace. Pick up your envelope, a gratitude rock, and some good courage at church this Sunday. If you’re not there, we’ll mail your envelope. Help Peace move into our first full year of financial independence in our new leased building. God will rejoice in your step of faith and expression of thanksgiving.

Funday Sunday is coming soon – December 5th from 11-1 Sign up to help with food, fun, or friendly fellowship on that day as we welcome the community to our new church. Those who have been background checked, be ready to help with childcare from 1-4, if needed. Invite your neighbors, family, and friends. See attached flyer.

The Youth will be supplying beautiful fresh evergreen Christmas wreath for your generous doantions. Place your order soon, because they may all be sold by the end of Funday Sunday.

Peace and gratitude to you,
Elizabeth

This Week at Peace - November 5, 2010

Dear Peacemakers,

If you forget to reset your clock this week-end, don’t worry. The Property Team can always use your help setting up at 8:30! This week’s sermon is “The Secret” from Philippians 4:10-20. You’ll have to come to find out. The Seekers of Peace are singing again!

Speaking of secrets, the nominating committee is still working on a slate of elder nominees. It is crucial that committee and nominees have ample time to prayerfully consider the gifts and the call to service, so we ask for your patience.

Wow, is the room beside my study full of Halloween Offering food already and more to come!
Thank you.

I hope you have marked your calendars for Funday Sunday on December 5th from 11:00-1:00 with free childcare offered from 1:00-4:00 as a gift to our community. We are reaching out, hoping to connect with households in the 30-50 age-group with their children. You can help make this a great day by bringing food, staffing booths with activities, or just by being a welcoming, friendly face. Joe will be singing and jamming on his guitar. The youth will sell wreaths and wash cars. The mission team will highlight opportunities, including Alternative Gifts. The education teams will have brief learning and craft opportunities in the building. This festival of Peace will be fun!

To all of you struggling with relationship conflicts, job losses, and health problems, our prayers are with you. Feel free to call 753-7778 or come by the church for support. The Deiberts’ new HOME number (if needed) will be 756-8153.

Peace to you,
Elizabeth
