Advent Peace to You!

Dear Friends and Members of Peace,

The Voices of Peace will usher in the season with a lively Advent Gospel  Carol.   We hope you will join us this Sunday (or any Sunday morning at 10:00) as we reflect on the “Life-giving Hope” we have in the promises of God, who became one of us on Christmas Day.

It is the most wonderful time of the year!   Only it’s NOT – not for everyone.   Not if there’s any empty chair at the table.    Not if your body is falling apart on you.    Not when depression is too much to bear.   Not when you’re having trouble paying the bills even before you think about Christmas shopping.   Not if you feel all alone.

But it can still be a hope-filled time for you, when you anticipate the real gifts of the Christmas story:   Mary was alone and afraid, but God was with her and exalted her.   Joseph was disgraced, but through the son  Joseph raised, God had a plan to save the world.   The world was in darkness, but God sent the light of life to shine.   We often feel alone and sad, but in Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God is truly with us.

If Christmas is difficult for you, or if you want to be a support to those having a hard time, choose to do something to make a difference:   Come to our Service of Hope this Sunday afternoon, December 2 at 5:00.

If you have children in K-5th grades and you need a day of peaceful shopping or peaceful anything, drop your kids off with us on December 15 from 2-6.   What a deal -- $5/kid!   Please call soon to let us know you’re coming.  753-7778

Eager to help to less fortunate?   We have a wonderful Alternative Gift Market  as well as Angel Tree Gifts to be distribute to needy families in the area.

We have activities for young adults, youth, children, women, men.    There are many ways to discover  PEACE.  But the best way is to show up and find the most authentically caring people around.   And while we are full of invitations, we hope you know that we accept “no” as an answer.    No pressure – just opportunities.

On Christmas Eve, our service of carols, communion, and candlelight will be at 6:00.

Advent Peace to you!

Elizabeth
