Open House

This Sunday we’re reading the story of Moses and the burning bush, where God tells Moses that his name is “I Am Who I Am.”  Plus we’re reading the story where Jesus asks the disciples, “Who do you say that I am?”  We move from mysterious, wholly-other God to God-in-human-flesh, Messiah.

It is an exciting day. At 9:30, we will hold a congregational meeting to elect an elder nominating committee.  Nominees are Rebecca Deibert, Linda Juillerat, Mickey Miller, Ivy Ruark, and Chip Schaaff.

After the meeting, we will hear about exciting new learning opportunities for all ages.  We are kicking off the new year of nurturing discipleship with a brunch and open house.  Connect with people you have not seen in a while.  Come, admire all the improvements in the building!   Hear about small groups and other ways to be involved at Peace.  Our big thanks to the Children, Youth, & Families Team, Pastor Neil, and the Adult Education Team for their good planning.

I am pleased to announce that Wednesdays nights will be added to Peace’s communal life this autumn.   A season of seven weeks will give us time to open with an International Food Festival on October 1st and end with Gratitude Dinner on November 12th.  The five middle weeks, we will eat, celebrate God’s goodness in praise and prayer, and enjoy a variety of other activities in our various age-groups – finishing by 7:30 so choir can practice at their usual time.  This is for all ages.  We hope you will take part.

Please sign up to participate in the October 1 International Food Festival this Sunday.  Debby will not be in town to orchestrate so we need lots of energy behind this great event. This is the Wednesdaybefore World Communion Peacemaking Sunday.

Do you want to become a better listener, a more compassionate friend? Consider Stephen Ministry training at Peace. Sign up and come to the info session on Sept. 22.

Blessings and peace to you all, especially those struggling with health or family issues,

Pastor Elizabeth
