Friends,
We’ve talked about Inspiring Worship, Authentic Relationships, and Nurturing Discipleship — the first three goals of Peace. This week we move to Compassionate Outreach, as we read Jesus Christ’s first proclamation in Luke 4:14-22.
To put it simply, our outreach is two part — living God’s love in word and in deed. Evangelism focuses on the loving word (telling people about Christ, inviting them into Christian life) and Mission focuses on the loving deed (caring for them like Christ would).
Of course, we are strongest when we are able to inject a spirit of compassionate outreach into everything we do together. We stop judging one another and seek simply to help one another fulfill the Great Commandment, appreciating the God-given value of every human person.
