This Sunday is Pentecost, the day we
celebrate the birth of the early church and the power of the Holy Spirit in our
midst. We will read the following verses from the Gospel of
John to guide our reflection on the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter,
Renewer and Giver of all Truth: John 14:15-19; 25-27; 15:26-27;
16:12-13.
You are invited to wear red
on Sunday as a sign of the flames of the Spirit burning brightly in the
world. We will thank our Lively Learning teachers and youth
advisors for the 2011-12 year with red
flowering plants, and will hear about the work of our Youth and Children
Ministry Team. Fellowship has some special red treats for snack
time.
On June 3rd, Trinity Sunday, after worship, we will Celebrate Peace with a
picnic and lots of fun inter-generational activities. On that
Sunday we will recognize our graduating seniors and we will celebrate the end
of Nathan Grantham’s chemotherapy. We will welcome our
seminary intern and send our senior highs off with a prayer, as they leave for
Montreat the following Saturday. (Youth & Parent Meeting at 12:30 this Sunday, 27th)
Also, everyone, consider signing up this Sunday to be a blood
donor on June 3rd.
Our Stephen Ministers
(the ‘AFTER’ PEOPLE) are fully commissioned now and are ready to care for you.
If you or someone you know would benefit from a weekly caring visit from a
Stephen Minister, please contact me via email or phone or in
person.
Pentecostal (Spirit-filled) peace to all,
Pastor Elizabeth
